We literally needed it to be "taken care of" when we were thousands of miles away. This is why we originally chose to work with Sarah as Krain has both buying and management support. From my first email and phone call with Sarah and Pete, they helped educate us on the right area for us, helped us comb through 60 properties to find the top few for us, and their home management service assured us that our home/investment would be taken care of when we were back in the US and not able to be here in CR. They even connected us to the lawyer, the survey company, and the title company for us. And then did all the closing for us remotely as well (inspection, walking the house, etc). They made it feel ok to buy a house thousands of miles away from our home in the US. Since our purchase (roughly 2 months ago now) we've been able to see the benefit of their home management support. Hugo (our Krain home manager) is quite literally our catch-all/do-all support person. He's taken care of home internet installation, our pool cleaning, the gardener, the fumigator, cleaning support, etc. This type of service may not be needed for all potential buyers but for us, it's been quite literally a huge reason this experience has been great. It's not all perfect. Things break, etc. But no one would expect that in buying a property in another country. But if something does break I'm 100% confident in Krain which overall has made it a wonderful journey working with Sarah and Pete starting about ~8 months ago through today. I don't think we'd be here in CR without them. Highly recommended to work with them and their team.

This was no easy accomplishment given the travel difficulties associated with the Covid-19 pandemic and the significant differences in my wife’s and my “want list” for our new home. Sarah and Peter made a complex situation smooth every step of the way. The perfect combination of friendly and professional they kept us updated with the market and available properties remotely while we “shopped” online from our home in New York. In addition to the numerous videos and pictures which accompany most real estate listings, they did live walk-throughs via Zoom with us for the properties we were most interested in. With their help, we were able to refine our list of properties until travel became possible. During our planned 4-day trip in February 2021, they made sure we saw numerous properties and communities to compare ensuring we were comfortable with the one we chose. They answered all of our questions about the properties, the purchase process and living in Costa Rica without ever making us feel any pressure to make a purchase. When our return flight was canceled 3 times over a 4-day period, they checked in with us multiple times, scheduled additional meetings for us, recommended several great restaurants, helped us plan some day trips, and even made sure our laundry was done so we had clean clothes for the extra days! Upon our return to New York, they kept in contact answering any additional questions and making sure we were comfortable as the process moved to completion, again no easy task as it is a bit stressful completing the purchase remotely. We were very apprehensive and nervous about parting with our retirement monies. Pete and Sarah reassured us and referred us to a reputable and approachable attorney who spoke fluent English and an escrow company with a U.S. affiliate. No problems with the wiring of funds disappearing or breaches of identity information. Krain is now successfully managing our condo as a rental unit and coordinating the necessary repairs with their property management staff.
